MS3 is a specialty resin uniquely developed for the art conservation and cultural heritage applications. With this special resin, we are delighted to be recognised in the KCA – Knowledge Commercialisation Australasia Ltd Awards 2020 for the Best Research Contract/Collaboration.
Previously, MS2A was developed in the 1950s. Its supply had gradually decreased and production ceased in 2014. In need of new high-quality resin for the art conservation and restoration professionals, we have developed this next-generation painting varnish, MS3. Starting in 2018 with a Victorian Boost-Your-Business Voucher, the commercialisation of MS3 was fantastic collaboration between CSIRO, the NGV and Boron Molecular. Big thanks to Deb Lau (CSIRO) and Carl Villis (NGV) and the many many others involved along the way. The resin, with improved colour, chemical stability, and consistency between batches, is now available through our distribution partners Deffner & Johann (Europe), Talas (USA) and St Luke (Australia/NZ).
